As you lay there resting peacefully
I wiped tears from your face carefully
You knew your life was coming to an end
I stood by your side gently kissing my friend
You reach up and barely touching my chin
We talked about our lives, how fascinating it had been
You tried to stay awake, but you fell fast asleep
I whispered I love you as your sleep was deep
You awoke one last time in the middle of the night
I reached over and held you close and ever so tight
With all your strength you whispered...I love you
I knew this was the last thing you wanted to do
As you fell into a coma, I kiss your forehead
I knew it wasn't long before they pronounce you dead
You knew I was leaving on a plane that day
One lasting kiss and I love you as I slowly walked away
You were gone as soon as I left that day
Suddenly I knew as the plane pulled away
